There has been a bit of confusion with the updated county metrics map published today on the State of Indiana Coronavirus website. If you click on the link, and scroll down to the map of Indiana – it shows that Hancock County is an ORANGE county (a 2.5 if you click the County Metrics).
The confusing part is that all Indiana counties, once their numbers improve, don’t immediately move to the less restrictive category (from RED to ORANGE, in our case). From the Governor’s Executive Order 20-50: “Counties have to meet the metrics/score of a less restrictive category for two consecutive weeks before being allowed to move to that category.”
For this reason, we must keep our RED restrictions in place for at least one more week. If Hancock County remains ORANGE next Wednesday, we should be able to adjust our restrictions accordingly. To find our current status, use the dropdown menu labeled “Map Filter” and select “Advisory Level.” This will show you what category our county is currently.
Athletic events are still limited to parents only. Youth sports will continue to be postponed until further notice on GCHS school grounds. Offseason practices will continue to be postponed until further notice.
