Game Recap

The G-CHS Cougar Football team was victorious over Conference and County Rival, Mt. Vernon. The victory over the Marauders was the first since 2011.

The story of the night was the Cougar Defense. Led by Freshman Turk Faitele with 13 tackles, Emmet Houser with 13 tackles, Jaden Brown with 11 tackles, and a host of other Cougars with 7+ tackles, the Cougars shut out the Marauder offense and created 6 turnovers. This is the first conference shutout in a very long time.

The offense was led by a great performance, again, by Senior Mike Hoskins with 7 catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Andrew Leslie, had 15 completions for 227 yards, and he called 2 of the touchdown plays the Cougar offense produced. The game was sealed by the blocking of the Cougar Offensive Line (Mitch Rosemeyer, Zach Kennedy, Tate Helm, Scott Stanley, and Ethan Stump) and the Rushing of Braden Brown who had 123 yards on 9 carries.

The Cougars move to 2-1 on the season. They will travel to Pendleton Heights on September 8. Kickoff is at 7:30 PM.
